Norway has developed a roadbed that absorbs carbon dioxide

Der er blevet udviklet et vejbed i Norge

Building roads is one of the most profitable yet challenging businesses. Not only does it have to be easy for citizens to get around, it also has to be safe. Taking into account the fact that most countries today build roads without thinking about ecology, which is actually a mistake, because this issue has long been on the agenda, and they also take fabulous money.

A Norwegian startup called Carbon Crusher has volunteered to solve several “roadblocks” at once. The young company has presented the public with a number of ideas and concepts, one of which is the need to reduce harmful emissions produced by roads.

More about the idea

The specialists at Carbon Crusher suggest using an organic polymer called lignin. It is the residue from the manufacture of ordinary paper. According to the founders of the startup, the material can become a worthy alternative to conventional bitumen. The developers of the idea shared the technology of creation of the newest roadbed.

In the process, the asphalt itself will be crushed, until it turns into fine gravel. Special equipment will be used for this purpose. The process will then bind the resulting composition with lignin. The final mix will be laid as a new road surface. And the laying will be carried out on top of an old covering.

Advantages of the new development

The Norwegian company is actively promoting its project, describing it as the most environmentally friendly. It is known that Norwegians are truly interested in saving and preserving the environment, and fight like no other for its future.

According to the given research of the startup’s employees, if they provide laying of the newest strip on the area with a length of 30 meters, the volume of harmful emissions of carbon dioxide will be reduced almost by 3.5 times.

In addition to its environmental friendliness, the new paving is also durable and has been proved by various experiments. Its durability is similar to that of conventional bitumen. It turns out that the Norwegian Carbon Crusher is the same reliable product, but it is greener and safer.

The public was fascinated by the idea, especially given the current focus on global environmental issues. Indeed, environmental problems are becoming more and more serious and cannot be ignored. The consequences of poor decisions made in the past are already affecting our planet as well as human health.

The use of the new road surface is a small step towards “curing” and protecting our world. If this is followed by a series of similar steps, humanity will be able to prevent one of the disasters that can happen, some of which have already begun and there is no escape from it. So such endeavours should be supported, especially when the company has prepared so thoroughly in advance, including lengthy research.
